Hurricane Ida made landfall on the Louisiana coast on Sunday, August 29 as Category 4 hurricane and knocked the power out for all of New Orleans by the evening.
The hurricane brought in catastrophic levels of flooding, and 150 mph winds that tied it for the fifth-strongest hurricane ever to hit the U.S. mainland, according to Associated Press . It dropped hours later to a Category 1 storm with maximum winds of 95 mph as it crawled inland, its eye about 45 miles northwest of New Orleans.
